Mark your calendars to attend the Art in the Beartooths exhibition and auction. This fundraiser supports the ongoing education programs, exhibitions, art in rural schools, and the scholarship fund at the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery. The exhibition will be on view July 1-26.

Bidding on the art in the exhibition will start at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9 using the online auction service, Handbid. Bidding will end at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26.

On Saturday, July 9, from 6-8 p.m. buy a ticket and attend the Kickoff Bidding Party. Ticket holders can view the art up close, mingle with guests, listen to music, and begin bidding on the art. Jerry Inman, John Potter, and Tom Wolfe are the artists participating in a Quick Finish taking place during the party. The proceeds from the sale of their art created that evening will support the Arts Guild scholarship program.

The ticket price includes drinks, food catered by Samurai Sue, and live music by Charlie Brandine. Tickets are available at $50 per person. Seating is limited to 50.

We are very grateful to our Art in the Beartooths sponsors:
Bank of Red Lodge, Darryl & Kathryn Smette, Carol Souders, Caryn Wibirt, Diane Zook

In addition, we acknowledge this program is sponsored by the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery which is supported in part by grants from the Montana Arts Council, the Coal Tax Trust Fund for Cultural and Aesthetic Projects, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

We're happy to announce the 2022 Beartooth Run will not be canceled. Instead, it will take place in Cooke City!
The flooding didn't impact Cooke City infrastructure and all businesses are open and waiting for us to come visit. In fact, they need us to come visit! Typically the 'coolest small town in America' is hopping with people going in and coming out of Yellowstone. So much so, we don't even visit in the summer because it's too busy! We'll be getting the VIP treatment to Cooke City this year with minimal traffic on some stunning roads....don't worry at 7600, you'll still be getting plenty of hills on both the 10k and 5k!
The biggest perk? From Billings, Bozeman, Cody, and Red Lodge the drive is about the same if not shorter. And, going over Chief Joseph Highway is filled with some of the most stunning views the Wyoming/Montana border has to offer! Second biggest perk? Due to lighter traffic and no switchbacks, you can run with leashed dogs this year!
We're in the process of putting together a few more details like a course map, adjusted, start times, and other FAQs.
Because the race is not being canceled and the drive time to the new location is the same, refunds will not be offered. Please understand that in addition to supporting Cooke City, by showing up (and bringing your friends along) you're supporting the future of Red Lodge Events. As a small, and relatively new business, canceling races and refunding participants puts our future viability at risk; we love putting on events for you and want to continue for many years to come!
More info will be coming so stay tuned. In the meantime, recruit your friends, book a hotel or AirBnB and let's get psyched for the Beartooth Run: Cooke City Edition!

It’s no secret that hard work and tenacity will get you far, especially in the music industry. Coming from a long line of weathered Nordics, who have eventually found their way to the rugged landscape of Southwest Montana, she has a bloodline of stories to tell. Marcedes Carroll released her debut record She’s Pretty in the Fall of 2019. She’s Pretty is a collection of songs that encompass life, love and loss in the American West. Countless hours have been spent writing, charting, rehearsing and performing songs that reflect a passion for the poetic experiences she herself and others have gone through. This album will introduce the people and places of Montana and show you a glimpse of the world through her heart. aren't for everyone because they are about a small portion of the American population living in a giant swath of the West. "There’s a movement of young western people writing honestly about this wild place out here and I’m excited to be part of it. Some of them are friends and we talk about how cool it is to meet other young writers basically covering their corner of the west. There's just not a lot of us." Jimmy's Roadhouse

Add to Calendar 8/20/2022 8/20/2022 America/Denver The Nitty Gritty Off Road Race We’ve moved the race up a few weeks to reduce conflicts with other events. This off-road marathon will be held at Red Lodge Mountain Resort. In its sixth year running, the Nitty Gritty is starting to earn quite the reputation. And that is, that its, one nitty, gritty marathon with LOTS of climbing all on dirt roads and single track trails.

With a September date, your summer of running and racing will be what prepares you for this “battle royal” event. Form a six, three or two runner relay team to tackle the marathon, or if you have the grit, try the solo hot lap, half, or full marathon!

The Nitty Gritty embodies our motto the most out of any race: low key, high elevation. While the terrain is challenging, everything else is lowkey and there is distance for all abilities. Dogs are welcome to run with you on or off leash, the beer and snacks might be the biggest draw….second only to the awesome people! Small but mighty, this race is for those who love trail running and everything that comes with it! Bring your bear spray, camp chair, and good attitude.

So lay the peer pressure on your friends, because its time to get down to The Nitty Gritty!

After studying music theory and composition at University of Michigan, Texas beckoned when Ray Wylie Hubbard enticed Jeff to join his band. Slide guitar virtuoso, Jeff spent his early career backing the likes of Hubbard and Joe Ely. His patented lap slide guitar, “the Plank,” with a distinctive sound derived from the instrument's square neck and electric guitar body—netted him Austin Music Awards 2017 “Best Miscellaneous Instrument”.
